L. J. serves as General Counsel for Olympus Real Estate Partners, a group of private equity real estate funds that previously owned billions of dollars in real estate assets, including office buildings, hotel/resort properties, apartments and residential developments which is in the process of winding down its last fund and making its final distribution to investors at the end of 2018.
As General Counsel, L. J. has handled business transactions at virtually every stage of development, including acquiring real estate, managing properties, and selling assets.
For example, he oversaw all legal aspects of Calistoga Ranch, a luxury hotel and private residence club in Napa Valley. L. J. served as the real estate broker of record for the resort and also served on the board of directors of the Calistoga Ranch Private Residence Club from 2008 to 2013.
L. J. has served as a volunteer mediator at the SMU Dispute Resolution Center since 2013, mediating business disputes.
Real estate attorney and professional
L. J. worked for four years as a real estate attorney for a Dallas-area law firm, where he handled a broad range of commercial transactions, including the negotiation of office and retail leases and the handling of residential land development projects.
L. J. has also worked at a Dallas title company, handling escrow closings, and as a real estate broker, specializing in representing tenants in negotiating office leases.
Banking and Mortgage-Backed Securities
L. J. worked for three years combined at commercial and regional investment banks in Memphis, structuring, trading and selling whole loan packages and mortgage-backed securities to institutional accounts, such as Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.
L. J. later moved to Washington, D.C., working three and a half years in the Security Sales and Trading Group at Freddie Mac, where he bought and sold Freddie Mac mortgage-backed securities with institutional accounts.
